WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE LOVE MARKETS
The Love Markets make modern songs of love and revolution. Inspired by the artists of Weimar Berlin, these “ruffle-clad ruffians” have spent 14 years gracing/disgracing Seattle's finest stages with subversive wit, bite, and intoxicating soul.
The Love Markets' musical alchemy and unique sound come courtesy of frontwoman-songwriter Angie Louise's sultry, exuberant vocals; the shape-shifting accordion of Robertson Witmer; expressive trombone wizardry from David Marriott Jr.; Dave Pascal's funky bass; and Chris Monroe’s sinuous drums.
In 2013, The Love Markets released WORLD OF YOUR DREAMS, drawing praise for a debut album that managed to include both an elegy for the dead and a risqué ode to wiener schnitzel. The band's second release, BEAUTY FACTORY, investigates the machinery of modern life, armed with rollicking grooves and a seductively sinister opening lyric: "Step up, miss! Here in the factory, the gates are always open... Don’t resist! To be made whole again, you’ll first need to be broken...”

Berlin, 1929: Churning factories, glittering clubs. Decadence, cynically marketed; moral outrage, expertly manipulated. Fractured politics. Financial panic. And through it all, artists who used their fledgling freedoms to express new ideas of beauty, mock the powerful, and shine a light on the machine of modern society: frightening, fantastic, and gorgeously absurd.
The Love Markets have spent the last fifteen years
